Still Minds Psychology: Coaching FAQ

Welcome

At Still Minds Psychology, we provide life coaching to help people break free from anxiety, obsessive–compulsive disorder, panic, and phobias. If you feel stuck in cycles of worry, feeling constantly on edge, stuck engaging in mental checking, avoidance, or compulsive behaviors, coaching can help you break free and start living confidently. Coaching is not about reassurance, just getting validation, or “just thinking positive”; it is about building real skills that reduce anxiety and restore trust in yourself. If you’ve been told to “just stop thinking that way” or “let it go”, you’re in the right place.

You do not have to manage this alone, and you do not have to feel this way forever. Start with a coach who understands anxiety and OCD

  • If you’re nervous about starting coaching, that makes sense.

Many people who come to Still Minds Psychology worry about things like:

I’m not sure it’s possible to get better

How could coaching possibly help, I feel lost

What if I’m judged for what goes through my mind?

If you’re asking those questions, you’re not alone—and nothing about them disqualifies you.

Intrusive thoughts, mental images, urges, or doubts can feel alarming, shameful, or hard to explain. They do not reflect who you are, what you want, or what you value. You do not need to filter, justify here.

Coaching helps you understanding how anxiety and OCD operate, learning skills that actually reduce their power, and moving forward at a pace that feels safe and collaborative.

    You are allowed to:

    • Ask questions

    • Go slowly

    • Feel unsure

    • Take time deciding if this feels like the right fit

Nothing needs to be perfect for you to begin.

→ Schedule a consultation to Learn what coaching is like

  • I don’t just ask you how you’re doing, I utilize strategies based on evidence-based techniques from Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) principles to get you symptom reduction.

We go at YOUR pace, working together. You don’t have to fight your thoughts alone.

    No insurance is accepted.

While coaching can be an expense, many clients view it as an investment. My clients find working with a highly trained specialist is still more cost effective than years spent trying to treat their condition with someone who does not understand how anxiety, OCD or phobias work. I work with people to recover and teach you the skills to handle issues effectively

  • Therapy and coaching serve different but sometimes complementary roles.

Therapy is a licensed clinical service that focuses on diagnosing and treating mental health disorders, processing past experiences, and addressing symptoms that significantly interfere with daily functioning. It’s often essential when someone is in acute distress or needs formal clinical treatment.

Coaching, on the other hand, is forward-focused and skills-based. It emphasizes practical tools, behavior change, accountability, and helping you apply what you already know into real-world action. Coaching does not diagnose or treat mental illness, but it can be highly effective in supporting recovery from OCD and phobias when grounded in evidence-based principles.

For OCD and phobias in particular, recovery depends less on insight alone and more on consistent behavioral practice, such as reducing avoidance, tolerating uncertainty, and responding differently to fear. Coaching can be especially helpful for:

    • Practicing exposure-based strategies in daily life

    • Breaking reassurance-seeking and safety behaviors

    • Building confidence in managing anxiety independently

    • Staying accountable and consistent between challenges

    • Shifting from “knowing what to do” to actually doing it

Many people come to coaching after therapy or alongside it, when they’re ready to focus on implementation, momentum, and long-term maintenance. For others with mild to moderate symptoms, coaching may be an appropriate first step.

Importantly, ethical coaching includes clear boundaries and referrals.

    In short:
Coaching helps you apply, practice, and move forward.
For OCD and phobias, that combination can be powerful.

Unfortunately despite OCD and phobias being such a debilitating condition and effecting millions world wide, few resources exist to help people overcome this. many never receive help for their OCD or phobias. Meghan started offering coaching services to help the many OCD & phobia sufferers want something more action based or haven’t seen results with typical approaches.

Real Testimonial (anonymized for privacy, not client image)

“ I’ve really noticed such a huge reduction in symptoms and for the first time in years, I feel like I can live my life like a “normal” person without constant overwhelming anxiety. It restricted and impacted nearly every aspect of my daily life, and I honestly never pictured a reality where I wouldn’t feel that way or where I wouldn't feel like 99% of the things I wanted to do I couldn't because of my emetophobia. I truly cannot stress that point enough, I really really never envisioned a world where I could be rid of that feeling, and even though it is not completely gone, how I feel now is incomparable.

I finally feel like I can control my avoidance behaviors and compulsions rather than them controlling me, and that’s such an empowering feeling. I just wanted to express my gratitude and say thank you so much. I was skeptical at first (because I didn’t think this could ever improve), but reaching out for that first consultation was genuinely one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I’m so glad I did, you’ve truly changed my life.”
